Battledown Children’s Ward, Cheltenham General Hospital
Using the theme of butterflies, this project took two weeks and involved four 2-hour sessions.
Children who were either pre- or post-op or receiving routine hospital treatment were invited to create a large wall hanging for the Butterfly Ward. The sessions were very theraputic, and the participants were absorbed in this magical process and able to forget about their physical problems.
The batik hangs over an internal window, so the light travels through the batik providing an amazing glowing butterfly design for all to see.
This project came about through working with the Everyman Theatre in Cheltenham.
